August Gate turns 1

This past Sunday was the 1st Anniversary of August Gate Church.  I can not even believe it has been a year.  Even harder to believe is that I was 36 weeks pregnant this time last year.  This past year has been an amazing ride and we have been able to share it with some amazing people.  Thank you to all of our August Gations for your love and commitment to seeing the Gospel go forth in Soulard and St Louis.  This year we have had the privilege of meeting some amazing people, forming awesome friendships, joining in deep community and learning to love our city.  May God continue to receive glory and continue to work through August Gate for many years.  I am excited for what this next year brings :)  Since I have such an adorable baby girl most of my pics from the night are of her :)

Allie very proud of herself because she got this water bottle out of Celeste's diaper bag.  Digging in Celeste's diaper bag is one of her favorite things to do.  You never know what you are going to find ;)

A quick trip to Southern Illinois

Last week Allie and I decided to make a VERY quick trip to Southern Illinois on Tuesday.  My best friend from highschool was in town and she had never met Allie and well after having several failed attempts in Allie's 10 month existence I thought it was time to make it happen.  However when going to So. Ill we have to make several stops and say hi to Gma and Gpa Gray and Papa Roy and Gma Cathe.  So after that we made our way to Harrisburg and saw Brooke and Krystal.  I was bad about remembering to take pictures all day until we went to Mackies for dinner.  I LOVE MACKIES!!! I couldn't forget to document Allie's first trip to mackies and her first time eating Mackies Pizza.  Still the best pizza I have EVER had :)

Pizza and Lemons... YUM?

Allie LOVED Brooke she thought she was funny and liked that she would get on the floor and play with her.  When Brooke went to get ready for dinner Allie crawled back to the bathroom and wanted to see what she was doing and hang out in there even if mama was in the other room.  I am glad these two finally got to meet!  We had to take a pic in front of the sign.  I have SO many pics with Brooke in front of the sign from ages 8-16!
Oh and Congrats Adam Tate for being the employee of the week!

Redneck Swimming

It has been HOT I mean really HOT this summer.  Like So hot that you don't even go outside unless you are going to be in a pool..well we don't have a pool.  Last week it was another HOT week and well after being inside for 2 days it was time to venture out.  So we went on our back porch and I had a brilliant mommy moment and made a home made swimming pool for Belle belle out of one of my rubbermaid containers.  She loved it!  Even though daddy was a little embarrassed by us when he got home.  Oh well!

A visit with cousins

This past weekend we got a special visit from Uncle Nate, Aunt Betsy, HK and Nolan.  We had been bugging them about coming to see us and well they finally gave in :)  Figured it was now or never with another baby coming next month.  They got here on Saturday mid morning and after Allie woke up from her nap we and we had lunch we decided to head to the zoo.  This was Allie's first trip to the zoo and I wasn't sure if she would be into it at all plus it was pretty hot. But she loved it.  Here are pics from mostly Allie's perspective at the zoo...

Most of the window ledges were just at her height so she liked being able to stand and look at the animals
She would get so excited when she would see an animal that she would squeal and either bang the glass or clap her hands.

She especially loved the monkeys.  They got really close and she would squeal and laugh.
lookin at the monkeys with HK
Here she is trying to give HK kisses but everytime she would get too close HK would freak out because she thought she was going to try and bite her.
one of her new favorite things to do it point so here she is pointing at the zebra's I think.
clapping because she could see the animals
it was SO HOT we decided to stop and get some cold treats to enjoy.  Here Daddy is sharing some of his frozen lemonade.  YUMMY!
I tried to get a pic of the boys with their girls but HK didn't want to get her pic taken at that moment, so this was the best I got.
Penguins!  The line was like 40 people long to get inside the penguin house so we just admired them from outside.  Penguins stink really bad!
There is Nolan!  Both kiddos worn out after a long afternoon in the hot STL sun.

Day 2: We ventured out and went to the Lafayette Park Playground.
Getting ready to go play
SWINGS!
Trying to keep up with the big kids..
Going down the slide with daddy
wishing she could run and play like the big kids... not just yet baby girl.
cousins having fun playing together even if for only a brief moment
HK and her classic pouting face :)

These guys are wearing me out!
This was Allie after we got home from church on Sunday she fell asleep in the car, slept through me changing her diaper and clothes into pjs so I left her on the floor while I got her bottle ready and came back and she had rolled over and was out for the night in the middle of the living room floor.  Her cousins wore her out!

Thanks for coming Nate, Betsy, HK, and Nolan we had LOTS of fun with you!!!
