The happenings as of late...

In the last several weeks Allie has really started teething and this has made our house a little less than pleasant home to be in. Allie has been a lot more fussy than normal and well after day 3 of the random crying cause her teeth hurt I thought I needed to document the event. I must preface these pictures by sayin that Noah was holding her and trying to console her I wasn't just snapping pictures with her fending for herself. I feel so helpless in this time but she does make some pretty funny faces when she gets upset. She has mastered the bottom lip stuck out and that is pretty much all it takes to melt her daddy's heart and he is ready to give her whatever she needs to be happy again... I tried to capture this event but it moves into crying so fast it is hard to catch... this is the best I could do.
then the crying begins...
followed by a full body cry accompanied by flailing arms...

and then finally into full on screaming...

oh I am sure this is only the beginning of the teething stage. Poor Allie Grace I hope your teeth feel better soon.

When her teeth are not hurting Allie loves playing in her excersaucer. She amazes me how she has already figured out how to spin the toys and shake the rattle. She will do one with each hand and gets them going really fast then she cracks up because she is so happy with herself. Your getting to be such a big girl!

This week Allie has started sitting up without assistance. She will sit for 10-20 seconds before falling to one side or the other. Just tonight she sat for a while longer... Soon and very soon she will be sitting up for however long she wants... oh baby girl it is all going so fast.

The last couple days (before today) it has been nice outside, Sunny and in the high 40's so we decided to seize the opportunity to take Cubbie on a mini walk. Allie likes getting all bundled up and going for a walk... it is one of the few things (besides a bath) that calms her when her teeth hurt.

Now that Cubbie got his hair cut he can't stand to walk in the cold for very long so inevitably he ends up in the stroller with Allie on our way back... she doesn't seem to mind.
My happy girl... we did a little photo shoot during tummy time the other day.

Today I looked out the window only to see HUGE flurries coming down. This was technically Allie's first snow since we were in Florida during the first snow of the year so we had to get bundled up and go experience it. She was very interested in this new phenomenon.
She would just stare at it...

but I eventually got a smile out of her

Getting Crafty

Noah got me a nice sewing machine for Christmas and I had been dieing to think of something fun to make with it. As most of you know my friend Celeste is having a baby boy (Cannan) in March. On a side note Allie can't wait to have another baby around :)!! Anyways while I was in Florida for Christmas I was trying to think of something fun I could make Celeste and Cannan and after talking to my other super crafty friend Kim we decided that together we could figure out how to make baby bedding. How hard could it be right? So Kim and I had a blast going to JoAnn's, picking out fabric and then spending a couple of days working on our new masterpiece. We were SO thrilled how it turned out we couldn't wait to give it to Celeste. I think she liked it too...

PS...her nursery theme is birds...

So now I am getting addicted to my sewing machine... yesterday I decided to make a fun toy for Allie. She is teething SO bad and loves putting things in her mouth so what better to make then a soft block that has LOTS of things to chew on :) She loves it! And yes I even monogrammed the A on it!

Now what can I make today?...

The many adventures of Gracie

Allie got a stuffed doll in her stocking at Nana's house named Gracie. She is about at the age where it is time to introduce a "lovie" something that she can bond with and use as a "security blanket" for lack of a better term. I thought I had a little snugly bunny that would serve this purpose but Allie decided that Gracie is going to be her lovie. Since the week she got it she loves this doll. She loves chewing on her pigtails, her hand, whatever. She will not sit in her exersaucer unless Gracie sits in there with her. I have Nana on the hunt for backup Gracies in case I need them in the future :)
Gracie likes posing for pics with Allie. She can always help get her to smile...
Gracie is great to chew on when your teefers hurt...
She is a good companion when we watch Baby genius videos

She is a must have while napping in mommy's arms at church...
She is always around while helping mommy cook in the kitchen
Or when sleeping in mommy's arms...

Or first thing when you wake up from a nap...She is always there when it is time to go to sleep for the night.
Gracie we love you! We are so glad you have come into our lives!

3 Months- January 3rd

This month Allie is really starting to develop her personality. I can see her strong will starting to form. She wants to be independent, she always wants to stand up and is less satisfied by laying in my arms. I keep telling her she is still my baby and she can't grow up yet but I can see her changing more and more every day. She makes me laugh all the time and I love carrying on conversations with her. When she is in the right mood she would talk forever!

Teething is now in full force! Everything she has goes in her mouth. Her favorite things to chew on are Noah or my fingers, her hand, Gracie's (her baby doll) pigtails, bibs, burp cloths, teething rings and anything else she can get her hands on and get in her mouth!

Allie LOVES her aunt Brooke. She thinks she is hilarious. Brooke loves Allie unless she poops or spits up. Allie still has an affinity for spitting up on Aunt Brooke.... it is quite comical.

Chillin with Aunt Brooke and the soon to be Uncle Will. She is trying to talk them into having a honeymoon baby so she can have more cousins!

What up world! I am 3 months old can you believe it? My mommy can't!

She is such a happy baby and loves life!

Fun in Florida

We spent the week after Christmas in Florida with my family. We had a great time watching movies, playing games and just being together. Unfortunately I didn't take as many pictures as I normally do and I think that was in large part because Allie was sick the majority of time time we were there. While we were there we had to get creative for bath time because there was no baby bath so we improvised and used Brooke's sink upstairs. Nana and Aunt Brooke helped with bath time most nights and Allie enjoyed her bath as always. She would splash the water and laugh and kick her legs which would knock everything off the vanity. Good times!

Gettin some sugar from Nana after getting all clean in the bath

Toby wasn't sure what to think of Allie. He liked to put his tail over her face while Nana was holding her. I think he was getting a little jealous because she was getting all the attention. He decided to show his dissatisfaction by peeing on her blanket and on her changing pad.

On Sunday we got all dressed up so Nana could show Allie off at church. She was in Nana's arms when we got to church and I think she stayed in them till we got in the car to come home. Nana couldn't wait for Allie to meet all her friends. Even though she didn't feel well she obliged and flashed her cute smile at everyone!

Nana and her precious grand baby :)

I was totally not prepared for how cold it got while we were in Florida and neither are the furnaces they put in Florida houses. I packed Allie's lighter winter stuff to go down there and didn't even bring a coat. I had no idea it was going to be below freezing 5 days while we were there. Who knew that she would have to wear her hat and gloves inside Nana and Papa's house in FLORIDA! The bathing suit I packed her was a complete waste. I only thought it was cold in Florida... when we landed in St Louis the pilot told us it was -2 with a wind chill of -25! OUCH!

Allie started to really show signs of not feeling well the on Tuesday the first full day we were in Florida. She soon became a lot more fussy than normal ...

...and did a lot of sleeping in Nana's arms; but I don't think Nana mind it at all.
She still loves sleeping with those arms up :)

Allie could not sleep on her back, she would have trouble breathing and it would scare her so she would scream and want to be held. So I had been up with her every night from around 1 am till 6 am though my mom did help relieve me a couple of times. Tuesday night before we left her "cold" seem to be at its worst. That night she woke up at 1am again but had some much mucus in her throat that she could not get her breath. I started to panic and the only thing I could do was stick my finger down her throat and try to sweep it out which made her gag and throw up a bunch of snot... gross I know! This made her furious and well it took me a good hour to get her calmed down but at least she was breathing again! It was at that point that I decided I couldn't wait till we got back to St Louis on Friday to go to the Doctor we had to go ASAP. Plus I was a little nervous flying on Thursday not knowing if she had an ear infection or not. So Wednesday we went to the Doctor. When we got there I found out that she was still only 13 lbs. Which made me a little nervous but didn't surprise me since she 1. hadn't been eating well since she had been sick and 2. She had been spitting up a lot with all that snot in her tummy. The Doctor didn't seem worried about it. She did say that she had an upper respiratory infection called Croup but no ear infection and nothing in her lungs! So she gave her a breathing treatment and a round of steroids and sent us on our way.

I am officially not a fan of steroids! Allie became a baby I did not even know. She wanted her mama ALL the time she would cry if she went to anyone else in fact she cried all the time whether I held her or not and to make things worse she WOULD NOT SLEEP! There were nights where I was pleading with her at 1 am to please just let me sleep for 1 hour. I am so glad we are done with them. She took her last dose on Sunday Jan 10th! Last night she finally slept again from 9 pm till 6 am! YAY I am glad to have my baby back :) For all of you who have been praying her cough is subsiding and she is starting to feel ALOT better.
